The mind is probably the most determining success factor in our lives, and not only in the business area but in every other area or goal we want to pursue.
If you have a specific way of thinking, you will act accordingly to your thoughts, and that way of acting will give you specific results.
So, depending on how your thoughts are in a certain time, you will have completely different results.
And this is something really basic, however, we normally aren’t aware of it.
In today’s article what I want to show you is the main characteristics and differences that exist between these two kinds of mentalities: the employee’s mind and the entrepreneur’s mind.
AN EMPLOYEE’S MINDSET
Here the true challenge is not so much about how your thoughts are, but about the fact that you are used to things being like that and you are not even thinking about changing them.
One of the main characteristics of an employee is that it is used to having just one income a month, their monthly payout or salary.
You receive this income in exchange for your work, exchanging hours of your time for money. So, you earn money only during your working hours, meaning that if you don’t work, there is no income.
If you lose your job, you lose your income.
An employee lives according to other people’s rules, you adapt to a system, it doesn’t matter if you like it or not.
Being in this place, there is a lot of fear of taking risks.
You get used to living a routine life, and they are usually people who are content to survive economically.
They are also people who are accustomed to being told what they have to do, they always have a boss on them who marks the way forward and even tell you how you have to do it.
Their jobs and lives are completely structured and are really predictable.
The goal of an employee is to make their boss happy.
For them, the best day of the week is Friday, they spend their weeks focusing on the weekend to arrive.
Lots of people that have a job, are pretty aware of not fully enjoying their lives and say things like “I would like to start my own business, be my own boss, BUT I don’t have the money, the experience, or the time, and I am too old or too young to do it”.
They focus on the resources they currently have, and are once more, caught up in excuses.
Summing up, if there is a fundamental value the employee’s mind has, is that is looking for COMFORT and SECURITY.
This is the most important thing for these kinds of people: the security of having a steady job and the security of having the same income at the end of the month.
THE ENTREPRENEUR’S MIND
On the other hand, we have people that have cultivated the mentality of an entrepreneur.
These are people that create their own economy, they don’t depend on others paying them a salary.
Entrepreneurs don’t exchange their time for money, they are dedicated to creating systems that continue working even when they are not there.
They obtain their income even when they are sleeping or on a vacation.
Their goal is to make their customers happy. They have something that goes beyond having money at the end of the month.
They have an added value, which is trying to improve lives beyond their own.
A person with this kind of mentality focuses on creating a lifestyle they like and enjoy, a lifestyle where their job and their family or personal life are not separated, they become one.
They don’t live according to the standards, they work any day of the week, there is no difference between Monday and Friday, they love what they are doing and don’t have the need to stop.
They don’t wait for things to come, they go out and get it for themselves.
They are proactive, take the initiative, they are ahead of the game and are responsible for their own lives.
They have left behind the fear of taking risks, and don’t it to paralyze them. They are afraid, yes, but they move forward despite it.
Why?
Because they have made another important change in the way they think they know every failure and every mistake is an opportunity to learn.
If you are an employee and you make a mistake, there is the possibility of getting fired.
But if you are an entrepreneur and you know how to turn every mistake into an opportunity, you know that the more you fail, the closer you are to achieve it.
These are people that turn their ideas into action, they take action constantly.
They have a winning attitude, they are optimistic, but not in the way of thinking everything will magically solve, but because they know that when problems arrive, they are going to find a way to solve them.
They end up turning discomfort, in their own comfort zone. They get used to living in the uncertain because they know things depend only on them.
And, the moment you realize everything that happens to you depends only on yourself, is when you start taking the reins of your life and start actively creating the life that you want.
To finish it up, the fundamental value of a person with an entrepreneur’s mentality is not as much the security the employee pursues, but the FREEDOM.
If you also want your entrepreneurship to be a success, you need to know which are the attitudes and thoughts you need to develop, because you can always train your mind and improve.
If you think you are in the moment for a change, the decision is yours, you are the only person that can decide and the only one that will.
